Leh Cherng Temple
Since Leh Cherng Temple was located by the Han River, hence it was known as Han River Leh Cherng Temple. During the Qianlong Period, the ancestor of Lin Da-fa crossed the ocean, invited Mazu from the Mazu Temple in Meizhou to Taiwan, and enshrined the deity by the Han River. In year 55 of Qianlong Period (1790), pilgrims chose the current site to build the temple. The temple’s main hall was rebuilt in year 13 of Taisho period (1924) and front hall was completed in year 4 of Showa Period (1929).
Leh Cherng Temple consists of three spans and two courtyards, and the front hall features exquisite stone carvings such as dragon pole, dragon & tiger wall, eight stallions, flowers of the four seasons and Romance of the Three Kingdoms. They not only embody the superb skills of the craftsman but also emanate rich aesthetics that can be admired and appreciated by the public.
