Ms. Lin-Wu Su-xia began to learn Nanguan opera and its style of singing with her father Wu Zhai-quan when she was four. When she was eight, she began to learn Nanguan percussion – “xia si guan.” When she was ten, she began to learn pipa and sanxuan. When she was sixteen, she began to learn Liyuan opera (in both operatic style and stage walk) with Xu Xiang and Li Xiang-shi. In the aspect of music, she studied with Weng Xiu-tang, Chen Ling-yun and Chen Zhang-rong. When she was twenty-four, she studied southern drum style. Mastering all sorts of musical instrument of Nanguan, she is specialized in operatic singing, drama, and southern drum. Considering the fact that the art of Nanguan opera is fading, she registered the art according to the Cultural Heritage Act as a traditional art to preserve and promote it. In 2010, the Council of Cultural Affairs listed Ms. Lin-Wu as the heir of important traditional art.
